Off-site Training Facilities
At the Aurora Animal Shelter and the Denver Dumb Friends League, students practice effective small animal restraint techniques, administer medications and vaccines as ordered by the veterinarians, and care for animals in shelter environments.
At Animal Reproductive Technologies, students have the opportunity to learn routine health care for cattle, general farm practices, and restraint as part of their large animal training.
At Kenlyn Arabians and Cottonwood Riding Club, students perform routine health care on horses and learn about the overall equine industry from a real-life perspective. These off-campus labs also provide students with the following experiences: Viewing live births, observing breeding procedures, learning to safety handle rescued large animals, exposure to holistic/complimentary medicine approaches, handling and treatment of a variety of farm animals, and learning about a not-for-profit's equine assisted therapy program for at risk youth.
