Degree Program: Curriculum
The occupational-focused degree program at Bel-Rea is carefully designed to give students the skills and training they need to become credentialed veterinary technicians. Bel-Rea’s curriculum provides students with the hands-on experience and technical know-how needed to launch a career in veterinary medicine.
Classes such as Anatomy & Physiology, Veterinary Medical Math, Veterinary Medical Chemistry, Medical Terminology, Office Management, and Technical Writing provide you with a solid foundation for upcoming technical coursework and hands-on labs.
Laboratory-oriented classes including Hematology, Parasitology, Microbiology, and Clinical Chemistry prepare you to process animal patients’ lab work while utilizing a microscope.
Veterinary Science, Pharmacology, Sterile Technique, Radiology, Anesthesiology, and Pre-Clinical classes focus on the technical and practical skills utilized consistently by credentialed veterinary technicians.
Species-specific classes such as Large Animal Medicine, Avian/Exotic Medicine, and Laboratory Animal prepare you to work with a wide variety of animals during your career.
For the final quarter of the program, you will complete a Veterinary Technician Student Internship at one of Bel-Rea’s 130+ approved internship sites. This internship allows you to train with veterinary professionals in real-life situations and solidify the academic and hands-on knowledge you gain throughout your education.
